Some coffees whisper. This one shows up with flowers.

Los Papales sits on the slopes of Cerro Chimborazo, high above Jinotega in northern Nicaragua. It’s cloud-forest country: cool, misty, and green. Coffee here takes its time, and you can taste it.

This lot is pure Red Pacamara, a big-beaned variety known for bold, expressive cups. Grown at 1,300–1,500 metres, hand-picked at peak ripeness and fully washed, it’s as clean as it is lively.

In the cup, hibiscus leads the way, followed by ripe cherry and a wave of tropical fruit. The body is velvety and round. A bright twist of lime keeps everything sharp to the last sip.

The López family has been growing coffee in the Datanlí region for over a century. Today they farm Los Papales with a real focus on biodiversity, low-water processing and slow, careful drying. They provide steady work for around 120 people year-round, and around 450 at harvest.

Scored 86 points. Fruit-forward, floral and properly special. One for the curious.
