It is important that the coffee be ground with a good quality burr (rather
than blade) grinder. By grinding the coffee coarse, you’re allowing for
a slower and more even extraction, which results in a fuller bodied and
more nuanced cup. Blade grinders chop the coffee rather than grinding it,
resulting in uneven and unpredictable particle size & increased bitterness.
Ensure pot is clean and dry. You’ll need 1 tablespoon of coffee for every 4oz
of water. Feel free to adjust based on personal tastes.
Bring water to the boil & then let it cool for 45seconds. Pour it agressively into
the pot so that water saturates the grounds evenly. Move the stream around
to facilitate this. Do not fill up pot entirely.
After 1 minute, stir the grounds in the pot. This guarantees even & optimal
extraction of all the coffee.
Press the pot at exactly 4 minutes. You should push the press (slowly) into the
pot to force all grounds to the bottom. You may need to repeat this step.
Pour as soon as you have pressed the pot. Enjoy!
